VIDEO: Woman Realizes 30-Year-Long Dream

If there is ever a shining example of the virtue of commitment, it’s Maisie DeVore’s story.  When she was in her early 50’s, she decided that the children in her community of Eskridge, Kansas should have a swimming pool for hot summer days.   She found out that she could redeem aluminum cans at the local recycling center for cash.  This sparked a crusade to make it happen.  Maise drove around in her old pick-up truck, rain or shine, collecting aluminum cans, even the town’s people gave her cans.  Some called her “Crazy Maisie” but that didn’t stop her.  Thirty years and six million cans later (90 tons worth), the nickels, dimes and dollars added up to more than $83,000!  The pool opened in 2001 named in Maisie’s honor.

Watch the YouTube video below for Maisie’s inspiring story of what it’s like to be unstoppable in your quest to realize a dream.
